WAYNE, NJ – Rutgers-Newark fell to William Paterson, 9-0, on the WPU Tennis Courts in its final New Jersey Athletic Conference match of the season.

The Pioneers (5-2, NJAC 2-2) did not drop a set in the sweep with the closest match coming on the No. 2 doubles court.

Junior Dhaneya Kumar and freshman Michelle Nagamine lost an 8-6 decision to junior Lauren Abate and sophomore Kristy Daubert in the second-flight doubles play.

The Raiders (4-7, NJAC 0-6) failed to earn a conference victory for the first time since 2003 when 10th-year head coach Kevin Morris took over the program.

Rutgers-Newark closes out its season this week with a pair of home matches on The Golden Dome Courts.  The Raiders host FDU-Florham on Monday at 5 p.m. and Baruch College on Friday at 4.
