REDLANDS, CA – A six-run third inning carried the University of Redlands to an 8-3 win over Rutgers-Newark at The Yard as the Scarlet Raiders managed just five singles.

Four of the first five Bulldog batters singled in the third inning against junior right-hander
Jonathan Dominguez (0-3) as Redlands used three Raider errors to push across two unearned runs to cap the spree and take a commanding 7-0 lead. Junior
Tyler Kwiatek replaced Dominguez with one away in the third and gave up two runs on a walk, a passed ball and an error before settling in.

Billy Taylor allowed just one earned run on six hits while striking out five over the final 5-2/3 innings to keep the Raiders in the fray.
In the fourth inning, Napolitano was hit by a pitch and Commesso drew a walk to set up a one-out RBI single to center field by Larangera. Tamayo singled to right field to make it 7-2, but the next batter grounded into a double play to kill the rally.
Troisi led off the seventh with a single and moved to third on a base hit by Napolitano before scoring on a ground ball to second base by Commesso.
The Raiders (2-9) fell for the seventh straight time while the Bulldogs (12-10) won for the fifth time in their last six outings.
Rutgers-Newark plays at Whittier College on Wednesday at 3 p.m. (PDT).
