NEWARK, N.J. (April 27, 2016) – The Rutgers University-Newark baseball team will take on New Jersey Athletic Conference (NJAC) rivals The College of New Jersey (Thursday, Friday) and Stockton University (Saturday) in the final regular-season weekend of the year.

The Scarlet Raiders (13-22 overall, 5-9 NJAC) will look to move into the top-six of the conference standings as they are currently battling Montclair State University (8-6), Rutgers University-Camden (7-7), William Paterson University (6-8) and Stockton (4-10) for a spot in the NJAC Playoffs.

As a team, the Scarlet Raiders are among the nation's top-50 ranks in several metrics. R-N is 37th in stolen bases with 72 and 39th in stolen bases per game (2.06). The Scarlet Raiders have 31 double plays which are 42nd nationally and their .89 double plays per contest sit just outside the top-50 at No. 51.

Individually, Rutgers-Newark finds several speedsters featured in the national statistical rankings as senior
Ryan MacFarlane is fourth in the country in stolen bases per game (.84) and 12th in stolen bases (26). Classmate
Gerry Patrizio is 34th in steals (20) and 42nd in stolen bases per game (.61). The duo sits Nos. 2 and 3 in the NJAC in both metrics.

From a conference standpoint, Rutgers cracks the top-three in walks (second), fielding percentage (third), sacrifice flies (third), stolen bases (second) and stolen bases per game (third).

MacFarlane has an excellent 16 multi-hit games, with sophomores
Justin Marks and
Brian Boulineau each tallying 10 so far. Close behind those three are Patrizio and senior
Billy Taylor with nine apiece. MacFarlane currently has a seven-game hitting streak heading into the key NJAC weekend, with MacFarlane and Marks leading the Scarlet Raiders with seven multi-RBI outings.

Freshman
Anthony Rosoline leads the Scarlet Raiders in ERA (2.97) and wins (six), while MacFarlane has fanned a team-leading 30 opponents. Junior
Vincent Enea (three) and MacFarlane (two) have combined for five saves.

Six Rutgers-Newark bats have more than 30 hits on the year in MacFarlane, Marks, Patrizio, Boulineau, Taylor and senior
Cameron Dias, with Marks, MacFarlane and sophomore
Ross Halkias all racking up 20-plus RBI.
