PURCHASE, N.Y. (March 5, 2017) - Cold weather on the East Coast has caused Rutgers University-Newark and Purchase College to cancel the baseball games slated for Sunday, March 5 starting at 11 a.m.

A day after battling extreme cold and wind in Brooklyn against New York University, the Scarlet Raiders and Purchase decided it was too cold for 18 innings of baseball.

The two schools are looking for a suitable makeup date for each side later in the season.

Rutgers-Newark returns to action on March 11 in South Carolina, opening its Spring Break trip against Catholic University.
