NEWARK, NJ - The Rutgers-Newark men's cross country squad competed locally this afternoon at the NJIT XC Highlander Challenge at Branch Brook Park.

Leading the way for the Raiders was Adam Abushanab, who recorded a top 10 finish in the 8k as he raced to a time of 25:55.12. Crossing the line second for Rutgers-Newark was Carlos Gonzales Delgado, who ran a season-best time of 31:08.47. Wascar Olivero eclipsed his previous season-best time by nearly four minutes with a time of 32:49.32. Daniel Cortez, Andrew Mark, and Zachariah Muyingo all completed an 8k for the first time this season to round out the field for the Raiders.

Next up for Rutgers-Newark is the Interregional Border Battle hosted by Rowan on Saturday, Oct. 19.
