Union, NJ – Rutgers-Newark played to a 2–2 draw against Kean University in a New Jersey Athletic Conference matchup at Kean Alumni Stadium. The Scarlet Raiders struck first for the only goal of the half in the 9th minute when Peter Rios found the back of the net off an assist from Erick Cortes and Nicholas Gomez. Kean responded early in the second half, with Josser Amaya scoring in the 47th minute on a pass from Yasser Aglaguel to even the score.
The Scarlet Raiders regained the lead in the 80th minute on a goal by Edgar Silva, but Kean answered moments later with Harrison Shaller scoring in the 84th minute, again assisted by Aglaguel, to secure the draw. Both teams had strong offensive showings, with Rutgers-Newark recording 14 shots, seven on goal, and Kean taking 16 shots, eight on goal. Rutgers-Newark goalkeeper Pedro Flores made six saves, while Kean's keeper added four stops.
The tie brings the Scarlet Raiders to 7-6-2 and 1-3-1 in NJAC play. They will look to come out on the winning side of another NJAC matchup this weekend as they host TCNJ at Frederick Douglass Field.
