Arcadia University Stuns Rutgers-Newark with Late Comeback, Wins 10-8

AMBLER, Pa. - In a dramatic turnaround, Arcadia University came from behind to defeat Rutgers-Newark 10-8 in a thrilling match-up. The Scarlet Raiders appeared in control early, taking an 8-0 lead through five innings, but the Knights mounted an incredible comeback to steal the victory.

Rutgers-Newark jumped out to a commanding lead in the first inning, scoring four runs, thanks in large part to a clutch three-run double by Joseph Bernardo to left-center. The Scarlet Raiders added three more runs in the fourth inning and one more in the fifth, seemingly putting the game out of reach at 8-0.

However, Arcadia showed resilience and refused to back down. In the bottom of the fifth, the Knights broke through with two runs, slowly chipping away at the deficit. The real damage came in the bottom of the eighth when Arcadia exploded for eight runs, completing the comeback win.

Despite the tough loss for Rutgers-Newark, several players had standout performances. Eric Recchia went 3-for-5 with a run and an RBI, while Bernardo contributed two hits and three RBI. On the mound, Sean Ahrens picked up the win for Arcadia, throwing 2.0 innings of relief, allowing three hits, and striking out two. On the other hand, Jesse Evensen was charged with the loss after allowing two earned runs in the eighth inning without recording an out.

The game, which saw both teams tally 12 hits apiece, was a testament to the unpredictable nature of college baseball. Arcadia's late surge not only secured a dramatic victory but also served as a reminder of how quickly the tides can turn in the sport.
