Final Results
PHILADELPHIA, Pa. – The Rutgers-Newark men's and women's track and field teams opened competition at the NJAC Indoor Track & Field Championships on Friday.
Men
Jaiden Johnson paced the Scarlet Raiders on the track with a 13th-place finish in the 60-meter hurdles prelims, crossing in 9.03. Babacar Halsey followed closely, placing 14th with a personal-best time of 9.21.
In the field, Azor Chareyre recorded a throw of 9.97 meters to finish 18th in the shot put.
The men's distance medley relay team of Kyle Rolffot, Danny Cortez, Carlos Gonzales Delgado, and Matthew Marroquin delivered a sixth-place finish in 12:05.03 to earn three team points. The 4x200-meter relay squad of Kareem Hassan, Julian Tummings, Shareek Prophet, and Ralph Atorkui added a ninth-place showing with a time of 1:35.90.
Women
Chidimma Igwe led the women on the track, placing 14th in the 60-meter prelims with a season-best time of 8.22. Arianna Allen added a 20th-place finish in 8.92.
In the field events, Suhaylah Muhammad secured an 11th-place finish in the long jump with a mark of 4.15 meters. Fejiro Akiri turned in a season-best throw of 11.73 meters to place fifth overall in the shot put and score four team points, while Cherron Hackshaw finished 17th with a mark of 6.89 meters.
The women's 4x200-meter relay team of Chidimma Igwe, Arianna Allen, Suhaylah Muhammad, and Sanai Boyd placed eighth overall in 1:59.06.
The final day of the NJAC Championships has been moved to Friday, Feb. 27 due to the incoming snowstorm.
