PROFILE OF THE WEEK (February 18, 2009)

JUNIOR (2008): Named captain by his teammates… Returned to form after injury-plagued sophomore season… Hit .318 while starting all 38 games in the outfield…Third on team in hits (54) and runs scored (40)… Fourth in stolen bases with seven… Finished the season with an 11-game hitting streak… Hit .391 during that stretch…Enjoyed 17 multiple-hit games including a four-hit performance against Whittier College (3/22) and Richard Stockton (4/13)… Batted .439 on California trip hitting safely in eight of nine games… Also scored 11 runs on the trip... Drove in a career-high four runs against Eastern Connecticut (3/15) and New Jersey City (3/27)…Knocked in the winning run with a walk-off single in a dramatic 13-12 win over William Paterson (4/17)… Had a stellar season defensively… Committed just two miscues in 106 chances.

SOPHOMORE (2007): Started 29 games in the outfield and hit .266 in 209 at-bats… Missed nine games in the middle of the season with a hip injury suffered while diving for a fly ball... Third in runs scored (25) and walks (15)… Committed just one error in 88 chances (.989) and had four assists.

FRESHMAN (2006): Started final 31 games in right field and was a key contributor to the Scarlet Raiders drive to the NJAC playoffs and ECAC Championship… Second on team with .333 average and third in stolen bases (8)…Committed just two errors in 66 chances (.970 pct.)…Knocked in the winning run with a single in the ninth inning in a 9-8 win over top-seeded William Paterson in the first round of the NJAC playoffs.

Before Rutgers-Newark: Three-year starter for head coach Todd Schmitt at Wall High School… Crimson Knights went 64-25 in the three years including 28-7 in his junior season… Team captured five championships that year (A-Central, Monmouth County, Shore Conference, Central Jersey Group III and Group III State Champs)… Was named MVP of the 2004 Monmouth County Tournament… Also lettered in football for four years and helped Wall to the Group III State Championship in 2003.
