RIVERDALE, NY – Rutgers-Newark got double-digit points from
Marcin Midura,
Grant Metheny and
Brett Pickens to sweep Mount St. Vincent, 3-0, in the Sharp Center.

Midura notched a match-high 10 kills while adding an ace and seven digs in the 27-25, 25-18, 25-18 non-conference win over the Dolphins (3-8). Metheny and Pickens posted nine kills apiece with Metheny chipping in an ace and three assisted blocks for a match-high 11.5 points. Pickens got in on four blocks to total 11.0 points.

Zack Chambers came up with a match-high 13 digs. Freshman setter
Manuel Felipez distributed 27 assists as Rutgers-Newark (7-6) hit .244 (38 kills, 16 errors, 98 attacks) for the contest.
Senior outside hitter Chris Bacchi led Mount St. Vincent with nine kills while senior middle blocker had a team-high 10.5 points on eight kills, an ace and three assisted blocks.
Each team staved off a set point in the opening game before the Raiders closed out the battle with back-to-back kills by Pickens followed by the frame winning kill by Midura. Midura had four kills with just one error on 10 swings in the game.
After the first set escape, Metheny had six kills and an ace in the second game as Rutgers-Newark took control. Midura and Pickens recorded four kills apiece in the third frame as the Raiders hit .286 (13-3-35) to end the afternoon.
Rutgers-Newark returns to EIVA play on Tuesday with a 7 p.m. visit to Princeton.
