Baseball Wins Second Straight With 11-1 Win Over Fredonia

Box Score AUBURNDALE, FL | Jon Rosado had his best game to date as the Scarlet Raiders toppled Fredonia, 11-1 at the Lake Myrtle Sports Complex as part of the RussMatt Invitational this morning.

Rutgers-Newark (7-3) won their second straight game behind an offensive outburst. Rosado led the Scarlet Raiders with three hits and 2 RBIs while Robert Gonzalez tallied two hits, 2 RBIs, and 5 runs scored. Colin Thomson (2-1) picked up his second win of the season and totaled 10 strikeouts in seven innings.

Fredonia (7-3) was led by Pat Bigham's two hits while Tylor Murphy recorded the lone RBI for Fredonia. On the mound, Andrew O'Connor threw five innings with six strikeouts and one earned run.

Fredonia was first on the board before the Scarlet Raiders evened the playing field in the top of the second when Rutgers-Newark capitalized on one of four errors by Fredonia.

After a scoreless two innings by the Scarlet Raiders, they took the lead in the top of the 5th when Rosado singled off of the first pitch to score one run.

With the lead in hand, the Scarlet Raiders added one run in the 6th before pulling away for good in the 7th when they scored five runs. Armando Alvarez hit a 2 RBI single to further spark the Scarlet Raiders' offense before Eric Recchia drove in a run and Chris Suleski scored on an error.

In the top of the 8th, Rutgers-Newark added three more to enable the run rule as they won their second straight.
