Newark, NJ – Rutgers-Newark women's volleyball turned in a dominant performance on Thursday night inside The Golden Dome, rolling past York (NY) in straight sets (25-7, 25-7, 25-6).
The Scarlet Raiders controlled the match from the opening serve, posting a .368 hitting percentage while holding York to a -.131 mark offensively. Rutgers-Newark's balanced attack saw multiple players contribute in big ways at the net and from the service line.
Helen Bilomasur powered the offense with a match-high five kills on a .714 hitting percentage, while Cyan Long and Fabiana Ayala added four kills a piece. Yasmin Rodrigues and Mia Espinoza were big on the defensive end, chipping in two blocks each. Olivia Neff was a force behind the line, serving four aces, while Nicole Sullivan and Miley Clenaghan combined for 14 digs to steady the defense.
Rutgers-Newark never trailed in any of the three sets and led in every statistical category for the match. The Scarlet Raiders return home Saturday for a tri-match with Cairn and Lehman.
