Box Score
CAMDEN, NJ – Rutgers-Newark freshman shortstop Ryan Macfarlane went two for three with an RBI, but Rutgers-Camden posted an 8-2 New Jersey Athletic Conference win on Campbell's Field on Senior Night.
The Scarlet Raptors (20-17, NJAC 6-9) rode the arm of senior Adam Satanoff (8-2) who tied the Rutgers-Camden record for victories in a season by going seven innings while giving up one earned run and seven hits against six strikeouts. John Waters sent the Raiders down in order in the eighth and ninth innings to preserve the win.
After the Raptors jumped on Raider senior starter
Tyler Kwiatek (1-2) for four runs on four hits and two errors in the first inning, sophomore catcher Steven Tamayo doubled to start the third inning and scored on a sacrifice fly by Macfarlane.
The Raiders trimmed their deficit to 4-2 in the fifth when freshman second baseman
Gerry Patrizio and Macfarlane opened the inning with back-to-back singles, moved ahead of a pass ball and Patrizio scored on a balk. But that was the last run that Rutgers-Newark would manage as Satanoff allowed only a seventh inning single to Macfarlane before turning the game over to Waters.
Only one of the Raptors' runs was earned as five errors spelled defeat for Rutgers-Newark.
Sophomore designated hitter Connor Hall went three for four with a two-run triple to highlight the Raptors' first inning explosion as Rutgers-Camden out-hit the Raiders, 12-7.
The Raptors stayed alive in the battle for one of six NJAC Championship Tournament berths entering the final weekend of the season while the Scarlet Raiders (8-28, NJAC 3-12) lost their fifth straight decision.
