EWING, NJ – Rutgers-Newark senior leftfielder Matt Larangera notched a pair of base hits, but The College of New Jersey rode the arm of senior Robert Graber to a 9-0 New Jersey Athletic Conference win.

Graber struck out six and walked no one in the four-hit complete game shutout while the Lions registered 16 hits against four Scarlet Raider pitchers.

Sophomore designated hitter Graham Commesso and freshman third baseman Brian Kokos notched the other Raider hits.

Raider junior starter Michael Garcia (2-3) gave up five runs on six hits in just 1-1/3 innings of work before giving way to senior reliever Anthony Caravano

Lion catcher Garen Turner opened a three-run first-inning outbreak with an RBI triple.  In the second, Garcia hit the lead-off batter for the second straight time to help TCNJ post a pair of runs.

Turner swatted a two-run homer to left center field against reliever Mark Bruscino to ignite a four-run TCNJ rally which staked the Lions to an 9-0 lead.

The Scarlet Raiders (6-16, NJAC 1-3) fell in league play for the third straight time while the Lions (11-9, NJAC 4-0) reeled off their fourth straight league victory.  The win completed a sweep for the Lions in the regular season home-and-away series a day after TCNJ posted a 3-1 win in Riverfront Stadium.

Rutgers-Newark visits New Jersey City on Saturday at 11:30 a.m. for an NJAC doubleheader at the Gerrity Athletic Complex.
