Box Score 2 NEWARK, NJ – Senior righthander
Michael Garcia hurled a complete-game win in the nightcap as Rutgers University-Newark split a New Jersey Athletic Conference doubleheader with New Jersey City in Bears & Eagles Riverfront Stadium. Game scores were 15-13 and 14-3 as the Scarlet Raiders piled up 33 hits on the day.
IN GAME TWO, Garcia struck out 10, walked one and allowed seven hits while the Raiders pounded out 19 hits against five Gothic Knight pitchers.

Jason McCluskey notched three hits apiece to lead the Raider hit parade. Sophomore leftfielder
Cameron Dias drove in three runs with an RBI single in the 4-run first inning and a 2-run single in the seventh. MacFarlane scored four runs.
IN GAME ONE, the Gothic Knights reeled off 11 unanswered runs over the final three innings to turn a 7-4 deficit into a 15-7 lead. Seven runs on six hits and two costly Rutgers-Newark errors came in the top of the ninth.
But the Raiders bounced back for six runs in the bottom of the frame capped by a 3-run homer over the left field wall by senior pinch hitter Steven Tamayo to bring Rutgers-Newark to within two.
Sophomore righthander
Chris Nichols had controlled NJCU through six full innings, allowing five hits and two walks while striking out two. Only two of his four runs allowed were earned. But things unraveled quickly when head coach
Mark Rizzi went to his bullpen. Four relievers gave up 11 hits and 11 runs over the next four innings. Seven of the runs were earned.
Troisi paced the Raiders' 14-hit attack with two doubles, a single, two RBIs and three runs scored. Both Dias and Napolitano singled, doubled and drove in a pair of runs.
Junior third baseman Michael Martucci powered the Gothic Knights (7-10, NJAC 1-2) with four RBIs and three extra-base hits. He had an RBI double in the fifth, a single in the seventh, an RBI triple in the eighth and a 2-run double in the middle the NJCU's ninth inning eruption.
Rutgers-Newark (6-14, NJAC 1-2) is back in action at 11:30 Sunday morning at Yogi Berra Stadium, taking on Montclair State in an NJAC doubleheader which has twice been postponed because of rain.
