NEWARK, NJ – Senior designated hitter
Anthony Yeswita drove in four runs with a double and a home run during a 14-run third-inning explosion which carried Rutgers-Newark to a 17-2 win over Penn State Abington in Bears and Eagles Riverfront Stadium.

Yeswita, who also had a sacrifice fly to cap a two-run first inning, blasted a two-run homer over the leftfield wall before driving a two-run double into the left centerfield gap during the Raiders' most productive inning of the season. Rutgers-Newark sent 18 batters to the plate, collecting a home run, four doubles and six singles while drawing four walks.

Michael Hansen hurled an inning each of no-hit, shutout baseball to close out the Raiders' 11th win in their last 14 tries.
Fourteen Raiders collected hits as 19 position players saw action in the lop-sided victory, piling up 19 hits against five Nittany Lion pitchers.

Matt Connors went two for two, drawing two walks, stealing a base and scoring three times. Senior first baseman
Matt Lingo had a single, a two-run double and scored twice in the third inning. Sophomore leftfielder

Joe Furnaguera went two for four to give Rutgers-Newark five starters with multiple hits.

Michael DiCenso, who scored three times, started the first inning scoring with an RBI double.
Schneider survived a shaky second inning when he gave up a lead-off single to freshman third baseman Daniel Hill before wrapping a pair of walks around a hit batter to deliver the first run for Penn State Abington (15-20). Furnaguera turned a bases-loaded double play to end the threat.
A two-out triple by rightfielder Pat Moran followed by a throwing error to first by Schneider brought home the other Nittany Lion run in the fourth.
Rutgers-Newark (19-17, NJAC 8-6) begins its final set of four New Jersey Athletic Conference games on Thursday at William Paterson with a conference championship tournament berth squarely on the line. Following Thursday's 3:30 p.m. contest, the Raiders play their final three regular-season contests in the stadium. Ramapo visits Newark at 3:30 p.m. on Friday with Richard Stockton coming to Riverfront on Saturday for an 11:30 a.m. doubleheader.
