Anthony Spezzaferra played varsity baseball for Rutgers-Newark from 1987 through 1991. With further involvement in his baseball career, Anthony’s work ethic and confidence grew.
In 1990, after an intense off-season training program, the starting outfielder led the Raiders with a .420 batting average.
He helped his team to achieve a new school record of 26-14 and reached the NCAA Division III Regional tournament that same year.
The following year Anthony improved and batted an incredible .478 average and racked up an astonishing 26 game hitting streak.
In 1991, his senior year, Anthony earned a spot on the 1991 All-American Baseball Team. This achievement was due to his speed and consistency at the plate as well as his astonishing super batting average.
Anthony’s talent and passion for the game carried him into professional status where he was invited to try-out for the New York Mets, Saint Louis Cardinals and Cincinnati Reds.
At present, Anthony is living with his wife, Donna, and their son in Maywood, New Jersey. He is working for the Wakefern Corporation.
