Edward Reilly carried on the winning tradition at Rutgers-Newark with a four-year stint, 1983 to 1986.

He was at his best in the Metropolitan Wrestling tournament. After fifth and sixth place finishes in 1983 and 1984 he took the title in 1985 and in his final year, 1986, registered a third place performance.

In 1985 he captured the Essex County Coaches Cup and took second place in the National Regional Qualifying tourney, an event he qualified for twice.

Reilly was the co-captain of the team for three years, earned the Cataldo Memorial award for wrestlers and was named the most valuable wrestler in the 1984-85 season. His overall record for the four seasons was an impressive 67-29.

He and his wife, Paula, have three children and live in Bridgewater. His career has been in the banking business, working in the finance division, and he is currently the treasurer of the Provident Bank.

Reilly is deeply involved with his children’s activities, and never is too far from the wrestling scene. His son is currently involved in a recreational wrestling program, and his dad is his biggest rooter and booster, exhibiting the same qualities as he did when he starred on the collegiate mat scene.
