As the years went by William Finkle got better and better in his chosen sport of wrestling.

His career stretched out because of a red shirt year and injuries but he posted marks of 14-6, 21-5, 22-4, and 23-3 in his final year in the 1988-1989 season. It all added up to an impressive 80 wins, just eight losses and two ties in a star studded career.

After two third place finishes in the Metropolitan Intercollegiate Wrestling Tournament, he rose to the top, taking first place in his senior year.

Finkle wrestled in weight classes from 158 to 177, finished first and second in national qualifiers, and received certificates for outstanding accomplishments in wrestling three times.

He has earned teaching certificates in math and soon will receive his Masters in math education. He has been a high school teacher and currently is the co-owner of the Town and Country Bus. Co.

Finkle is as deep into wrestling as when he competed at Rutgers.
He is an active participant in the United States National Wrestling Championships and won third place in Veteran’s competition in 2001. He also trained for the 2002 championships.

And despite his busy scholarship, business and wrestling activities, he still makes time to coach high school and college wrestlers.
