Bill Boericke enrolled at Rutgers-Newark in the fall of 1984. Prior to that, he attended the University of North Carolina at Greensboro. From 1981 to 1984, he was a Ranger in the U.S. Army. In 1985, Boericke earned the fourth singles and second doubles positions as a 30-year old sophomore. He has the distinction of being the only player to compete on three consecutive undefeated men’s tennis teams at Rutgers-Newark from 1985 through 1987. In his second season with the Raiders, Boericke played at second singles and first doubles – reaching the conference finals in doubles play. Serving as a captain in 1987, Boericke played top flight singles and doubles while attending Rutgers Law School. In addition, he was a finalist at the conference championship in doubles and he was chosen the Most Valuable Player Coaches Award recipient. A true student-athlete, Boericke posted a 3.86 grade point average while amassing a tennis record of 80-19. In 1988 and 1989, he served as an assistant coach under R-N Athletic Hall of Fame head coach Robert Mizerek while attending Rutgers Law School.
