Jerry Sherman was a standout basketball player for Highland Park High School. There, he was selected by the Newark Star Ledger and Newark Evening News for All Middlesex County and 1st Team – Group 2 All State for the 1949-50 season.

At Rutgers-Newark, Jerry played four years of varsity basketball where he was the floor general, leading the team in assists. He was both a fine rebounder as well as an excellent defensive player. Offensively, in addition to having an excellent two-handed set shot, he often scored on a hard drive to the basket from his guard position.

Jerry was largely instrumental in our team’s only win over Division I Rutgers New Brunswick, having made 14 out of 14 foul shots and scoring 18 points in that huge win.

Mr. Sherman is presently living in West Windsor, New Jersey, with his wife of 46 years, Shirley. He has three grown daughters and is currently working as a Sales Executive with Tomar Industries for over 30 years. The company is an industrial and janitorial distributor of packaging products and equipment.
