Cody Chidsey (2013-2016) was a dominant presence for the men's volleyball team, known for his athleticism and technical prowess. His exceptional skills as a middle hitter helped the Scarlet Raiders reach new competitive heights, earning him multiple accolades and recognition throughout his career. In the classroom, he was named to the 2013 and 2014 All-EIVA Academic Team. In 2015, he helped lead the Scarlet Raiders to a NCAA Elite 8 appearance after winning the CVC Championship. He was named a 2015 Second Team AVCA All-American, 2015 All-ECAC Second Team, 2015 All-CVC First Team, 2015 CVC Player of the Year, two-time AVCA National Player of the Week (2015), three-time CVC Player of the Week,Gerald Massenburg Award winner, All-CVC Academic Team, and 2014-15 Rutgers-Newark Male Athlete of the Year. He led Rutgers-Newark in kills, kills per set and hitting percentage en route to an All-American season. He finished the year third nationally in hitting percentage at .444. He ranked first in the conference in both hitting percentage (.444) and kills (345), and ranked fourth in the conference for kills per set at 3.14 and 32nd nationally. In 2016, he earned Second Team AVCA All-American honors, grabbed one CVC Player of the Week nod, was named to the All-CVC First Team, All-CVC Academic Team, helped his team to the NCAA Elite 8 and finished sixth nationally in hitting percentage at .449. He completed his career with 1,111 career points, 845 career kills, .377 hitting percentage, 62 solo blocks, 185 block assists, 144 digs, 58 aces, and 36 assists. Chidsey continues to be celebrated as one of the top players in Rutgers-Newark history.
