Carla Cusate comes to Rutgers-Newark Athletic Hall of Fame with impressive credentials. At the time of her induction into the Hall of Fame, she was the all time women’s basketball scorer, with a career total of 1507 points. Carla was a four-year varsity letter winner and was Captain of the team for the 1983-84 season. Her individual honors include being selected to the 1st Team All Conference of the New Jersey Association of Intercollegiate Athletics for Women in 1983-84; the N.J.C.B.C.A Northern All Star Team in 1982-83; the Catholic Universities All-Tournament Team in 1984, and the Rutgers-Newark Most Valuable Player Award for Basketball in 1983-84. Other honors include being selected to the 2nd Team All Conference of the N.J.A.I.A.W in 1982-83, and being names as the Most Valuable Player at the 1981-82 Upsala Invitational Tournament when she led Rutgers-Newark to 1st place in that competition.

Carla’s athletic accomplishments were not confined to the basketball court since she also earned varsity letters in softball in 1981 and 1984 and volleyball in 1981. Academically, Carla also excelled as evidenced by the fact that she graduated with honors as a Dean’s List student, was the Outstanding Scholar/Athlete of the graduating class of 1984, and was selected to Who’s Who Among Students in American Universities and Colleges in 1983-84.

Carla is currently Director of Marketing and Telecommunications Network Inc., Kearny, N.J. and resides in Kearny as well.
