Bob wrestled at Rutgers-Newark and at the time of his graduation in 1972, had achieved a most impressive record. He was the record holder for most wins in a single season and career; most pins in a single season and career, most consecutive wins and best dual meet (52-1-1) career records. He was a three time NAIA District Champion and was twice named as the Outstanding Wrestler in the NAIA District Tournament. Bob was undefeated in three seasons and in 1972 was the recipient of both the Cataldo Memorial Award and the Rutgers-Newark Outstanding Athlete Award.
